Inmaculada mining project construction environmental supervision of the construction of the; it included the implementation of environmental commitments in the construction phase.

Ecotec was in charge of conducting operational controls and implementing environmental management plans agreements making sure all environmental monitoring established in the construction phase took place; Ecotec also performed the solid waste management and developed environmental reports.

The Soil and Vegetation Monitoring Program periodically evaluates the soil and vegetable tissues of related plants, especially those for agricultural use, in order to determine the presence of metals.

The work consisted of simultaneous field sampling of soils, cultivated plants and wild forage tissues. The sampling was performed according to the 02 major drainage basins and dispersal potential and based on its relationship with specific components of the operation. The preparation and preservation of samples was performed according to the best practices of custody chain, refrigeration and transportation. The samples were analyzed by an accredited testing laboratory, following exact analytical and calibration procedures.

The results obtained for soil and plant tissues were tested with reference values established by the program and derivatives of international sources. In the case of soils, for the first time they were compared with national soil quality standards.

The final analysis included a special and temporal approach, including the integration of information generated during the previous monitoring, weather data, air and water quality, among others. The results provided valuable information that indicates not only the state of the soils and associated vegetation, especially in the crops area near to the exploitation area; but they are also useful as an environmental indicator for the mine’s surrounding conditions.

Operation of Solid Waste Organic Treatment Plant includes: Treatment of organic solid waste with composting technic, set up of compost heaps, physical, chemical and biological agents control, sieving and bagged of compost (final product).

The Implementation project of the Organic Waste Treatment Plant (OWTP) consisted in making compost (organic fertilizer) with food waste coming from UNACEM’s dining rooms, as well as from the manure provided by suppliers of the population centers nearby, such as Limapuquio, Aogucro and Pomacacha.

It also includes: Interior and exterior parts of silos (crude, cement and coal), classification, weighing and loading of crushing bodies, industrial painting., water intake (including water entry control and flow measurement), potable and waste water treatment system units.
