Polymetallic underground mine located at an altitude of 1,820 meters above sea level in the district of Chavin, province of Chincha, state of Ica at 60 km from the coast. The mine produces lead, zinc and copper concentrates.
On July 20th 2007, Cerro Lindo became the first peruvian mine operating without using water for its operation from the rivers.

Operation and maintenance contract for the desalination plant at Cerro Lindo mine owned by Milpo.
This three-year contract covers water intake and production of desalinated water by reverse osmosis. Milpo's desalination plant has an industrial process water production capacity of 48 l/s to meet Cerro Lindo mine needs. Starting in 2016, the output will be raised to 60 l/s, a 20% improvement in the plant’s performance from its current level.

The aim of the EIA modification is to implement the infrastructure that can let the mine operate at 10,000 tmd, the following components are required: New waste dam (No 100), new tailing dam (No 2), a contingency dam, an electric sub station (SE Crucero 270), camp for operators and 60 Kv power transmission line.
The area of direct social influence (ADI) is composed of district of Chavín towns: Marcocancha, Huirpina, Chitiapata, San Juan de Luyo, San Florian y Chavín, and district of Grocio Prado towns: Pauna, Buenavista, Chuspa, La Capilla y Conoche.

The objective of the EIA is to expand operation of mine and processing plant capacity from 5,000 tmd to 10,000 tmd, the following components are required: Control room, industrial water treatment plant, pulp plant , tailings filtration plant, waste dam ( No 1), power station, camps for operators.
The components to be expanded are located within the Cerro Lindo granted concession and Cerro Lindo 13, cerro Lindo, Febrero 1979 mining concessions.
According to directorial resolution Nº168-2010-MEM/AAM given on May 17th 2010, the environmental impact assessment of production 10,000 tmd expansion project Cerro Lindo mining unit was approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mines Peru.

Water Pipeline
Abengoa Perú S.A
Abengoa will execute the installation of 46km of pipeline, of which 14.5km will be subterranean, and the construction of three pumping stations where, at each one of them, it will execute the civil work, electric and instrumentation works, mechanical works, and the necessary mechanical metal works.
The new pressurized water drive line will originate at Jahuai beach, in the province of Chincha (Ica state) and will reach the mine’s processing plant in the district of Chavin located in the province of Chincha, where Abengoa will construct two water storage tanks (for the desalinated water) with a capacity of up to 3,800 cubic meters.
