El Porvenir, the first Milpo mine, is considered the deepest underground mine in Peru and one of the deepest in Latin America with extraction taking place at 1250 meters below the surface.
The mine is located in the province of Cerro de Pasco, 321 km far from Peruvian capital Lima, and operations are running at 4,200 above see level.
