Inmaculada Gold and Silver Mine

Inmaculada is a 20,000 hectare gold-silver project located approximately 210 kilometres southwest of Cuzco and 530 kilometres southeast of Lima. Inmaculada delivered first production of dore on June 3rd, 2015. Minera Ares SAC acquired Minera Suyamarca SAC on December 31st, 2013, Minera Ares owns all assets of Inmaculada mining unit.

The property consists of 40 mining concessions and is characterised by both low and high sulphidation epithermal mineralised systems, hosted by veins, breccias and disseminations within tertiary volcanics.

Conveyor Belt System

RBL-REI

Set up of overland conveyor with a length of 1.511km, altitude difference of 350m. Transport of gold and silver ore, conveyor with horizontal radius of 800m and capacity of 300 t/h. Jetty on a stockpile at an altitude of 4,740m.

The 800m-long horizontal curve allows the conveyor to avoid a rugged rocky hill and an archeological zone, and discharges ore at a plant stockpile directly from the crushing station.

Set up done applying RBL-REI Curvoduc conveyor technology (for installations that require multiple horizontal and vertical curves).

Closure plan preparation

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

The aim of the EIA modification is to change facilities allowing the exploitation and mineral processing of Inmaculada project. The components to be modified are: Tailing deposit, comprehensive system of channels coronation, waste dam No. 2, inappropriate material deposit, quarry Pucu Pucu, camps and offices, power line, materials and larger equipment warehouse, industrial water modular treatment plant and industrial water management system.

The waste dam shall occupy new area of ​​8.9 ha with a storage capacity of 1.471 million m3 of mine stripping, camps for personal to be expand to a final area of ​​13.75 ha, 2015 ore production shall be 744.984 mt.

The project has areas of influence direct (AID) and indirect (AII) from the environmental and social point. The rural community of Huallhua as well as towns Huancate, Cáscara, Villa Patari y Belén are related AID social.

According to directorial resolution Nº322-2015-EM/DGAAM given on August 18th 2015, Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines approved Inmaculada exploitation and processing plant EIA studies modification.

Diesel Generator

Perkins Engines Company Limited

Supply of diesel powered generators for the Inmaculada construction project. A total of 13 Perkins powered generators were installed to handle peak requirements, five of which are permanently installed to provide 0.4 mW of power 24/7 at the mine.

Permanently installed generator sets: 1 x 1104A-44TG2 (Model MP - 82I), 3 x 1006-TG2A (Model MP - 110I), 1 x 1006TAG (Model MP - 135I).

Other installed sets: 2 x 404D - 22G (Model MP - 20I), 1 x 1104A-44TG2 (Model MP - 76I), 2 x 1306-E87TAG4 (Model MP - 220I), 3 x 2206A-E13TAG5 (Model MP - 350I).

The generator sets powered by Perkins 404, 1104 and 1106 engines were equipped with special preheating glow plugs and 2,000 watt cooling water heaters to ensure reliable starting at low temperatures. The larger 1306 and 2206 engines were equipped with 4,000 watt heaters to handle the larger volume of cooling water in their systems.

Construction Environmental Management

Ecología y Tecnología Ambiental (Ecotec)

Inmaculada mining project construction environmental supervision of the construction of the; it included the implementation of environmental commitments in the construction phase.

Ecotec was in charge of conducting operational controls and implementing environmental management plans agreements making sure all environmental monitoring established in the construction phase took place; Ecotec also performed the solid waste management and developed environmental reports.

Detailed engineering

Detailed engineering, field Engineering, procurement and environmental consulting of the gold and silver mining project Inmaculada for Compañía Minera Suyamarca (Hochschild Group), as part of GyM’s EPC contract.

The detailed engineering for the processing plant included the process, mechanical, piping, civil, structural, architectural, electrical and instrumentation engineering of the crushing area, material transport, stockpile, milling, leaching, upstream decantation, merril crowe and gold plant, tailings detoxification and reagents plant.

It also included the compressed air system, drinking and fire proof water systems, tailings recovery, the low and medium voltage distribution and the backup diesel energy plant. The engineering was developed in a 3D environment using PDMS, and the procurement was done with our own software SisMat.

The aim of the study is to mitigate environmental impacts from conducting mining activities at the rate of 3,500 tmd by underground operation of Angela vein. The project components are 01 processing plant, 01 waste deposit, 02 mine entrances, 01 tailing dam, among others. Construction period (02 years), operation (08 years), closure (02 years) and post-closure (05 years ) are estimated.

The project has areas of direct influence (ADI) as well as indirect influence (AII) from the environmental and social point. Huallhua rural community and Huancate town are related to ADI social, related to AID environmental are included areas occupied by the mining project components.

According to directorial resolution Nº319-2012-MEM/AAM given on September 28th 2012, Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines approved Inmaculada exploitation and processing plant EIA studies.
