Gasoducto Sur Peruano

The project: 'Improvements to the country's energy security and development of the Peruvian South Pipeline' includes the construction, operation and subsequent maintenance of the pipeline with a length of 1,086km 32" and 82km 24" crossing across the high andes mountains from the jungle Peruvian area to the coast of the country. The project includes:

1 Transportation of natural gas system and natural gas liquids strengthening. Includes pipeline strengthening from the Malvinas separation plant to the point of connection. 2 Construction of the pipeline from the existing natural gas transportation system (between Malvinas and Chiquintirca) to the province of Anta located in Cusco region, pipeline to be able to supply natural gas to the future and thermal Quillabamba plant as well as to the south coast of Peru. 3 Peruvian South Pipeline construction from the province of Anta located in Cusco to the south coast of the country.

Impact to be created directly for the Cusco, Arequipa, Moquegua, Puno, Apurimac and Tacna regions development.

Engineering and Design

Define final route in the FEED (Front End Engineering and Design) engineering phase of the 1060 km-long Trunk Line and branches of the South Peruvian Gas Pipeline (GSP). The project covers regions with elevations ranging from 4,920 meters above sea level and with more than 50% of the route at a height above 4,000 m.a.s.l.

Review and preliminary sketch of the pipeline route from aerial photographs and satellite images as well as from information gathered by helicopter overflights. Field trips were undertaken by eight committees to design the layout; each committee was led by an expert in layout and geotechnical design and consisted of more than 20 members, including professionals in engineering, geology, biology, archeology, social, HSE as well as the guides.

Along with the fieldwork, LIDAR (light detection and ranging) information was collected, from which the images and digital terrain models were obtained. The adjustments made to the layout involved performing long variants to the initial alignment in more than 40% of the route.

Detailed engineering

Tipiel

Front-end engineering design and detailed engineering design contract on a lumpsum basis. The engineering studies are related to the development of the new gas pipeline to transport gas from the Camisea field to Southern Peru.

Tipiel is a Technip’s subsidiary in Colombia. The overall work will be performed by Tipiel’s offices in Bogota, Colombia. Works to be executed for Consorcio Constructor Ductos del Sur.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

The project, in order to secure energy supply, aims to transport natural gas from the Malvinas plant to Quillabamba, Anta and Cuzco. Planning, construction, operation or commissioning and abandonment (at the end of the project life) of the secondary Quillabamba and Anta Cusco pipeline will be held.

Quillabamba secondary pipeline (48.092 km length and 25 m right of way) will start in the bypass valve located on the trunk kp142+500 of Gasoducto Sur Peruano to the delivery station in Quillabamba. Anta Cusco secondary pipeline (62.309 km length and 25 m right of way) will start in the bypass valve located on the trunk kp284 +000 of Gasoducto Sur Peruano to delivery stations of Anta and Cusco.

The MEIA considers the following aspects: description of works and projected activities, preparation of environmental and social baseline, qualitative and quantitative evaluation of impacts; action approach for prevention, mitigation, correction and compensation of negative impacts on the environment, local people and indigenous communities; description of the mechanisms, spaces and procedures to be used to encourage the participation of the population and native communities in the area of ​​influence; determining the economic valuation of environmental impacts.

According to directorial resolution Nº232-2015-MEM/DGAAM given on July 24th 2015, Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines approved 'Improvements to the country's energy security and development of the Gasoducto sur Peruano, Quillabamba and Cusco Anta secondary pipelines' project EIA studies modification.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

EIA objective is to present a description of the project area environmental components, identify potential impacts due to construction and operation activities as well as to develop an Environmental Monitoring Plan (EMP) to minimize all negative identified impacts.

The project includes the construction of a pipeline from 30" to 36" diameter to transport natural gas (gasoducto) and a pipeline of 18" to 24" diameter to transport liquefied natural gas (poliducto) within a 25m wide corridor (South andino transport system).

EIA volume I includes project description, synthesis of environmental and social baseline and impact assessment. Volume II includes path variations of the transport system, community relations plan, environmental monitoring plan, contingency plan, closure and abandonment plan.

According to directorial resolution Nº173-2011-MEM/AAM given on June 7th 2011, Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines approved 'South andino transport system' EIA studies.
