A closure plan of a mining project intents to have fulfilled important objectives such as: contribute to the proper environmental protection of the area where a project is being developed, protect public health and environmental safety, contribute to the social, economic and institutional area of influence of the project and implement a mining operation closure activities so that the condition of post-closure corresponds to that of a passive care.
Specifically, within the Peruvian legal framework, a mining closure plan must be submitted by the project developer within the first 12 months at the latest after receiving the respective approval of the EIA.
In addition, the mining closure plan must be reviewed and amended after 03 years of been approved and subsequently after every 05 years since its amendment.
